Regional Listeners' Conferences of Radio Veritas Asia are held every year alternately in Bangladesh and India. This year's meet was held at the Sanjivani Communication Centre in Krishnagar, 100 km from Calcutta. The meeting was attended by the Program Coordinator of Radio Veritas Asia Manila Msgr. Van Pietro Tai, Social Communication Secretary Mr Eilers Josef, FABC in Manila and the Directors & producers of regional centres in Bangladesh (Banideepti) and Calcutta (Chitrabani) and of course the Head of the Bengali service in Manila Fr. Sunil Rozario. The meeting was also attended by the President and the Secretary of RVA Bengali Council body from Bangladesh and Calcutta.

About 100 listeners from many parts of West Bengal state (India) and one listener from Bangladesh attended the meeting.

There was interactive session where many listeners gave their opinion on various programs in Bengali, and also on reception conditions in the region. Many have gave good suggestions on the improvement on the program content.

In 2003 the Bengali service received the most listeners' letters: 11,690 letters of which 67% were from Bangladesh, 31% from India and 2% from elsewhere in the Middle East and SE Asia.

At this meet five listeners were named "best listeners of 2003" by the Bengali Service, one listener was named "Best DXer of the Year" and one was named 'best listener' by the Audience Relations Department.

2005 will be the silver jubilee of the Bengali Service of RVA which started regular broadcasts from Manila on 1st December 1980 (after a 2 month trial broadcast that started on 1st September 1980). There are elaborate plans to celebrate the occasion.
